1. Initial consultation
The Initial consultation is an opportunity to discuss the landscape requirements and aspirations of your project. Probable landscape services required, complementary professional services, statutory and legal obligations, budget and approximate cost will be discussed to determine the brief.
The consultation usually takes between 1-2 hours at a cost of £70.00 and payment would be due on completion. The fee for this consultation will be refundable should you appoint RIO landscapes to deliver either design packages 2 or 3.
Site Survey
Site survey and analysis will be undertaken at the initial consultation and this will provide a basic survey for our initial design work. On appointment a further detailed survey will be undertaken to provide accurate measurements of all existing external features, structures, vegetation as well as valuable level information.
We will be responsible for surveying smaller gardens and projects, however for larger projects and complex gardens a topographic survey will normally be undertaken by a chartered surveyor.
2. Masterplan
The masterplan is a cost-effective stand-alone coloured presentation drawing which conveys the design intent for the garden. This plan will generally include a layout of materials, structures and an indicative list of plants.
Supporting design imagery, and 3D visualisations may also be presented at this time to further communicate the intention of the design.
3. Detailed design
The detailed design typically illustrates the general arrangement and layout of all hard and soft landscape materials and special features within the approved design. This plan will provide construction and setting out information along with typical construction details.
4. Planting design
The planting plan illustrates the general arrangement and layout of all soft landscaping within the design and includes a plant schedule which identifies all plant species, sizes, densities and numbers. The plan is usually based on the agreed plant species selected during the consultation and design process.
5. Tender Documentation
The tender documentation is prepared alongside the drawing information and comprises of written hard and soft landscape specification. These describe the materials and products in detail and outline the qualitative methods of construction. We are also responsible for the tendering process for the construction of the design package, acting on behalf of the client.
We also offer a service for on site operations and contract administration should you require assistance and reassurance through the construction of the project.
Drawing production
Several design based software packages are used in the production of the drawing and presentation work. We promote innovative methods of drawing presentation and provide accurate scaled and legible plans. We supply design work in many formats including printed and multiple digital formats.
Fees
Fees are calculated and charged on a time-charged, lump sum or percentage basis and are dependent on the design package chosen, contract value and other services that may be required. All fees are exclusive of VAT, expenses and disbursements such as planning application fees.
